Prayers & Retreats
“In general, prayers made by an assembly of many practitioners are very powerful and cannot be compared to the prayers of one or two people. The scriptures give the analogy of a broom. If we try to clean a floor with a few bristles we shall make little progress, but if we gather many bristles to make a broom we shall be successful.”
- Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
Regular prayers
Jangchub Ling Centre has regular prayers which are free for anyone to join. Prayers are the most effective way to accumulate vast positive karma, purify vast negative karma, and to receive empowering blessings from all the Buddhas. By gathering these conditions we will naturally make profound spiritual progress.
Click on the below images to find out more about our regularly scheduled prayers, and view our calendar for upcoming dates.
Helping set up
Setting up prayers is fun and creates powerful good karma. If you’d like to join in then please get in touch.
Dedication prayers
We make regular dedication prayers for those in need and the recently deceased. To request dedication prayers for yourself or someone close, please complete this form.
Celebration days
Kadampa Buddhists are never very far from a celebration! There are many special days for Kadampas throughout the year. Gathering together to celebrate them helps us to accumulate positive karma, increase our faith and create powerful energy for our spiritual practice. Everyone is welcome at these events.
Retreats
We host a variety of retreats through the year. Retreats are a chance to focus on different aspects of the spiritual path, such as accumulating positive karma or purifying negative karma. Some of our retreats are guided by a Teacher, and some are unguided. For more information click on the images below; if the retreat is scheduled for the coming year this will take you to the retreat’s web page.

Blessings for a Year
There are countless Buddhas, but there are some we have a particularly strong karmic connection with. Over 2025 these prayers will introduce us to twelve of these Buddhas, and the particular spiritual relationship we have with them. In the same way that different people can help us in different ways, each of these Buddhas has a particular power to help us in different areas of our spiritual life. You are invited to come and meet these enlightened beings in prayer and to strengthen your personal spiritual connection with each of them.

Heart Jewel with guided Lamrim meditation
Tuesdays 5pm -6:30pm / Thursdays 7am - 8:30am / Saturdays 7:30pm - 9pm
Heart Jewel is the heart practice of all Kadampa Buddhists. With this prayer we create the causes to develop profound wisdom and to gather all the outer and inner conditions necessary for our spiritual path.
Three times a week these prayers are combined with a guided Lamrim, or ‘stages of the path’ meditation from the book ‘Mirror of Dharma’. We follow the same meditation in all three weekly sessions before moving on to another the following week, in a cycle of fifteen extraordinary meditations. These sessions are free to attend and are also available as live streams for members. See our calendar for the current schedule.
