A monthly class where we look at how Buddhism relates to important issues commonly experienced in modern life.

Includes a short, optional prayer, a teaching and guided meditation.

The Speaker

Resident teacher, Gen Kelsang Khechog with Buddha Shakyamuni

The speaker at our Friday Night Lectures is Gen Kelsang Khechog. Khechog was ordained in 2006 by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso. After studying for a number of years on the Teacher Training Programme at the internationally renowned Tara Kadampa Meditation Centre near Derby, Khechog was appointed as the Resident Teacher of Jangchub Ling Buddhist Centre in September 2009.

Known for his thoughtful nature, Khechog presents Buddha’s teachings with relatable clarity, showing how to connect these beautiful meditations with the realities of modern daily life.

  • Our weekly in-person classes are suitable for beginners and those with more experience of meditation. Don’t worry if you miss the start of a series, as each class is self-contained. Simply turn up, a few minutes early if possible, and make yourself at home.

  • We are a registered charity run entirely by volunteers, no-one receives a salary. The funds we receive are used to pay for our operating expenses in continuing our work of helping others.

  • Members of Jangchub Ling Centre can access several of our classes online. Find our more here.

  • No. People from all backgrounds attend JLC to find peace according to their own individual needs and wishes. Everybody is welcome.

  • Walk-ins are very welcome. You can pay with cash on arrival or book online in advance. Block booking discounts are available.

  • No special clothing is needed. Our classes do not include any physical exercise and sitting at Bewdley is on chairs, although you are welcome to bring a cushion with you if you prefer.
